This week's Photo Hunt Theme is Twist(ed).
The picture above is a rendering of the famous Lombard Street in San Francisco, also known as the "most crooked street in the world". I took this picture at Legoland in Carlsbad, California a few years ago. It was one of a number of city dioramas on display made entirely of Lego bricks. The other cities represented were New Orleans, Washington D.C., and New York City.
The photo above shows the actual world-famous Lombard Street. The street is constructed out of bricks with beautiful flowers lining both its sides. It's one of the popular tourist attractions in the city by the bay. Photo credit: SFTravel.com (Actual Lombard Street Photo)

I have driven to that street a couple of times. I must admit that I did get a bit dizzy the first time I drove through it. :)

That's a nice miniature Legoland interpretation of that crooked street in San Francisco.
Is the real street really that crooked? It looks like only a toy car can navigate through it. Although I can clearly see from the second picture, it is possible :)

Yes, the real street is really that crooked and that's the reason why it was designated as a one-way street. It's not really that difficult to drive through it because there's a speed limit that forces drivers to slow down.

If one attempts to drive through that street a bit fast, then yes, one could get dizzy. One really has to slow down not just for safety reasons but also to enjoy and admire the beautiful flowers on both sides of the street.

Pretty much all the streets are on an incline and thus, it would really be tough for a woman to walk on them on high-heeled shoes.

Love your choice for twisted. the lego depiction is great. I've actually gone down Lombard St. It really is quite the tourist attraction. I wouldn't drive a stick shift in San Francisco either and that's why I don't like to drive one in Seattle. Same kind of steep roads but it's not a problem in most of Southern California...

Yes, it's real. It's a section of Lombard Street. City Engineers decided to make it "crooked" back in 1922 to provide a "break" or relief from the street's rather steep slope. Inadvertently, they ended up creating a tourist attraction.

Those are wonderful shots of the famous crooked street. My brother has been there before and he told me that it was quite an experience to drive there.

Necessity's the motherhood of invention, as they say. To combat the steep slope, the engineers came up with the idea of making the street crooked to slow cars down.
